This is a classic example of what happens when the technology exists but those in power don't use it.... (American city Wilkes-Barre) office scrambles to recover tax data. They're ditching their mainframe in favour of PCs... which hold all the tax details for the city. They've opted to have people manually enter 25,000 records into two PCs rather than fix their mainframe, which they don't have a support contract for.
