- Blowing Shit Up™ for a living. The job does exist... and how.
- "Soft walls" system to prevent planes flying into buildings. Essentially the pilot would have severe limits placed on controlling the plane after they hit the soft wall. Unsurprisingly, pilots are not keen.
- The

| Microsoft Patenting IM Translation?.
The USPTO just published Microsoft's patent application for a Method and system for translating instant messages, in which the software giant demonstrates how an English-speaking sender can type 'Hi' in an IM and it will be translated to 'Hola' for a Spanish-speaking recipient.
I can see it now: MS releases instant messenger software with translation software, to MS's usual (crap) standard. World War Three would start within days. Refer to the Monty Python sketch, The Dirty Hungarian Phrase Book. - Cheap computer noise reduction solution - melamine foam.
- Telemarketers turning to spam as do-not-call list arrives. No big surprise, really. At least spam doesn't interrupt your dinner. Unless you're eating spiced ham. Which is another problem anyway.
