In most of these cases, there's a very simple way to figure out if the sexual politics are acceptable: reverse the gender roles. You'd be amazed how often you realise there'd be a total uproar if you switched men and women around - advertising is a prime example. There are countless ads on TV where the premise is that men are stupid and deserve to be humiliated; yet it's seen as very weird if anyone complains.
