• Boing Boing: Deaf geek mods implant-firmware so he can enjoy music again. The wired article is an amazing read. It also includes a nice quote on why people work on such things: I ... asked Loizou why the government would give him a grant to develop software that increases musical appreciation. "Music lifts up people's spirits, helps them forget things," he told me in his mild Greek accent. "The goal is to have the patient live a normal life, not to be deprived of anything."
