• Australian IT - Anger over eBay test scalpers (Simon Hayes, AUGUST 29, 2006): The [Cricket Australia] spokesman said eBay had turned a "deaf ear" to requests to crack down on scalping, adding regulation was needed. ... "If scalpers were not able to use the internet they would be robbed of the oxygen they need to run their fairly noxious businesses." Eeh what? Scalpers existed before eBay. What a load of bollocks. A spokesman for eBay rejected the proposal, saying promoters needed to "lift their game" and make it harder for scalpers to buy bulk lots of tickets. Promoters will not buy back tickets from people with a legit reason to sell their tickets. That means people have to sell their tickets using systems like eBay.
